Kansas Teachers - How to Get Access to FF4Kids

Step 1: Get Started
Please participate in one of our live online trainings or complete the online tutorial so you are aware of all the resources included with this courseware:

Teachers: Request Additional Training

Step 2: Once you have completed the tutorial. . .
Download and save the Teachers Guide for your grade level. The Teacher Guides are only found on this website, not on the CD. Teacher's Guides contain the time necessary for each episode, standards information and additional resources.

Step 3: Options for Accessing the Courseware
Financial Foundations for Kids is being delivered to all Kansas elementary and middle schools free-of-charge through the Internet, via a CD installed on the school server or individual computer or via Kan-Ed Empowered Desktop.

    Teachers new to using FF4Kids on this website will need to register as a user first to obtain a password.
    A free program can be used to access FF4Kids. Puffin Academy is a FREE web browser designed for K-12 schools to enable them to view programs created in flash.
    You can request a FREE CD to be sent to you
  • KAN-ED/Learning Station/Empowered Desktop:
    A link to FF4Kids can be found on your Empowered Desktop for your entire school to access. Your Empowered Desktop is can be reached at http://kportal.learningstation.com (Click HERE for answers to FAQ)

Step 4:
Choose your lessons using the correlations provided here.

Step 5:
Review the lesson your students will be using yourself.

Step 6:
Once you have seen what the students will be experiencing, review the supplemental activity found in the Teachers Guide and prepare what you will need to teach the activity.

Optional Step 6.a:
Have your students take the online pre-test. Access to the pre-test here.

Step 7:
Use the Courseware in class. You will access the courseware from your school's Empowered Desktop: http://kportal.learningstation.com using your school's logon.

Option 1: Have your students work independently through the assigned lesson(s).
Option 2: Display the lesson from your PC to the entire class and work through the materials together.

Step 8:
Do the supplemental activity to reinforce the concepts covered in the Courseware.

Optional Step 8a:

After your students have completed at least 1/2 of the lessons in their grade level, have your students take the online Post-Test. Be sure to have your students print their test results for your records. Download and print the award for the students that pass the test!
